Arlington has recently started construction and triggered a long-term lease at our 49MW battery energy storage site in Battle, East Sussex. The project will connect at 132kV and will be managed through construction by the Arlington team. Commissioning is targeted for Q4 2022.
This asset will help the UK to reach its target of hitting net zero by providing much needed balancing services to the grid, enable the deployment of further renewables and help to utilise the full potential of existing renewables.
A challenging project, Potmans Lane was developed by Arlington and becomes the fourth project sold by Arlington to its partnership with RGreen Invest. The project is in the UKPN region and is the second 40MW+ asset built by Arlington in the UKPN area. The project will be managed in the merchant energy market as well as providing a range of services to National Grid.
Set on sloping ground, the BESS will be an extremely well-engineered system once installed and is one of the largest projects in the UK. Smith Brothers (Contracting) Limited has been retained to build the project as an EPC wrap.
