Masdar Arlington take sites from inception through development and construction with the end goal of long-term operation of assets. As such, the key responsibilities of the Development Manager involve high-calibre development from origination of land and grid through the entire development process.
Key Responsibilities
Grid Management:
- Reviewing capacity maps and working with connections team to identify target areas for new sites
- Attending connections surgeries with DNO and TO, requesting connection budget offers and assisting in preparation, submission and management of formal grid offers
Land Procurement:
- Site visits to identified target sites to get LOA and exclusivity agreements signed
- Drafting and negotiating Heads of Agreement with landowners and/or agents
- Maintain strong relationships with landowners throughout development process
Planning:
- Identifying key planning risks on potential sites
- Ensuring that legal, ground, technical and landowner constraints are taken into account in the preparation of site layouts
Legal:
- Assessing land titles and identifying key land constraints of potential sites
- Liaising with solicitors, agents and landowners to negotiate Option and Lease Agreements to ensure swift agreement within agreed cost caps
- Reviewing land searches, indemnity insurance and legal reports
- Managing any required legal agreements to ensure projects are fully Ready to Build
Transaction:
- Appraising external acquisition site potentials
- Assisting with management of Joint Development Agreements and portfolio acquisition opportunities
- Liaising with lenders and consultants during transactions
Project Management:
- Ensuring filing, naming and updating of all relevant project information is undertaken in a timely and precise manner
- Monitor the project budgets and progress across external consultants, grid connections, legal work and design, recommending corrective actions if necessary
- Produce a comprehensive handover document once project achieves Ready to Build status and provide assistance to the delivery team to ensure smooth transition into construction
Requirements
- At least 3 years of utility scale renewable energy project development
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering or any other energy or sustainability related field
